Developed by MachineGames and published by Bethesda Softworks, Wolfenstein: The New Order is a new first-person shooter game in the Wolfenstein series that is set for launch in the fourth quarter of 2013. It will be coming to a variety of consoles and the PC, as well as the new PlayStation 4 console.
This is the ninth installment in the Wolfenstein series and it utilizes id Software’s proprietary game engine, id Tech 5. The game will be a single-player only experience, which does leave out the options to compete or cooperate with other players, but does open some interesting storylines.
Wolfenstein: The New Order takes place in 1960 in an alternative history world. In this version of history, the Nazis won World War II and players will act as William “B.J.” Blazkowicz, the protagonist of the game series. Players will infiltrate Nazi strongholds and battle the enemy, attempting to stop the Nazis from launching super weapons against the rest of mankind.
