MCV reported that the launch of the PlayStation 4 has helped boost the sales of the PlayStation Vita. The magazine said that the Vita sales rose 68% on the week of the PS4’s release and another 65% on the week after. We don’t know exactly how much that translates to, however. Sony says that it thanks the PS4 for the success of the Vita now, since remote play has been released and you can use the Vita as a second screen or a replacement TV for the PS4 console.
“PS Vita sales wise we are continuing to see strong week-on-week growth since our latest campaign kicked in,” said senior product manager Ben Law. “The new TV advert went live this week and we’ve already seen amazing feedback from PS4 owners on the Remote Play feature, and the success of Tearaway highlights what a great proposition PS Vita is, either as a standalone device or as the perfect companion to PS4.”
The PS4 launch was just the breakthrough that the PS Vita needed because it hadn’t done too well in the year and a half it had been released prior.
