I know a lot of people keep worrying about the frame rates and resolutions of upcoming games for the PlayStation 4, but this is one you can stop worrying about. The PlayStation 4 version of Thief will be running at 30fps on 1080p resolution. For a reference this is the same resolution and frame rate that Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag runs on the PlayStation 4.
The Game Director at Square Enix, Nicolas Cantin confirmed this to Eurogamer; he said: “You really need good eyes to see the difference,” meaning that the XBO release is effectively “as good as the PS4 version”. The Xbox One version will only be running at 900p resolution at 30fps.
It’s a good point in comparison to make though many, probably me included would disagree, but one thing is certain it won’t really affect the gameplay.
Cantin also stated that the gap does make a difference for game developers and creators and also that both these current gen consoles beat out their last gen equals by a mile.
