PlayStation 4: Motion Gaming Vs. Dual Shock
Motion controllers have become all the rage in the gaming world. From Wii to Xbox Kinnect and PlayStation Move, every console developer seems to have joined the bandwagon on this new technology.
But will motion controllers take the place of regular controllers in future consoles, like the Sony PlayStation 4?
Dr. Richard Marks, the head of R&D for SCE America, was one of the principle designers when Sony released their Move controller. Marks believes that motion controllers will not replace dual shock controllers, but instead simply allows the gamer multiple ways to play their favorite game. Also, it opened video games to an audience who found control pads too “intimidating.” Moreover, games which could not be created before (such as work-out video games and the like) now had the technology necessary to make it accessible to all types of consumers, whether they be children to the elderly.
Marks did not say whether or not the PS4 will only use motion gaming, but he did imply that it wouldn’t make sense to drop regular controllers. By keeping both versions available, they will appeal to a larger audience.
What we do know is that the technological leaps made sense the beginning of the PS3 indicates that the PS4 will utilize both types of controllers for an unforgettable gaming experience.
