The new PlayStation 4 is expected to create a new era in the PlayStation series and console gaming. It is expected that the new home console would also help revive the handheld PS Vita. Explore the leading reason why this can become possible:
Sony is promoting its most powerful game console yet with the tagline, “A PS4 in your pocket.” This comes as a statement of purpose from a consumer electronics company that seems to be determined enough to make its Vita successful. The feature of Remote Play in PS3 was a unique concept, but bad execution failed it. However, with the help of Gaikai streaming, it is expected that Playstation 4 and the PS Vita would make that feature work.
The new PlayStation 4 has been built from the ground up keeping Gaikai as an integral part. This service is promised to take advantage of both the consoles while providing Vita with almost all the PS4 games while being mobile. This means players can continue playing almost all the PS4 games even when they are traveling.
Many people lamented the resolution of PS Vita on its release. It was 960 x 540, which was lesser than a number of Smartphones that had almost same screen sizes. However, it wouldn’t be wrong that with Playstation 4 and the PS Vita in mind, Sony was looking forward to something. The resolution of PS Vita is precisely a fourth of 1080p. This is the size that all the PlayStation 4 titles would be developed in.
It seems Sony’s plans were to scale down PlayStation 4 games on PS Vita without the need to make any changes in size or dealing with those complex conversion issues and jarring. Even though, players may not find the fine details involved in a TV play, it is still going to look high quality.
It is also possible to stream all the PS4 titles onto Vita because of the comprehensive apps made along with each game.
Sony revealed that many games such as Driveclub will be having their unique apps for PS Vita and other mobile devices. This would allow players to get access from anywhere and send messages to other players, fix challenges and tournaments.
Even though, it is important to have such a feature on mobile devices, Playstation 4 and the PS Vita are going to be equally capable in gaming with PS4 titles. However, both PS4 and PS Vita would be able to connect not just over the internet, you can do more through your Vita.
There are already some PS3 games that enable the use of PS Vita as a second screen. For example, Little Big Planet 2 allows the use of Vita for a wide range of levels that can be controlled through the touch screen.
It is expected that more titles would be able to make the most out of this over Bluetooth connectivity that can share HUDs, track layout sand beaming maps with a Vita. It is expected that if Sony makes it possible to connect Playstation 4 and the PS Vita locally and engage in play, it would give a tough competition to the Wii U.
