PS4 Hard Drive Has Space for 27 Games and 10 Apps

IGN’s test of the PS4’s hard drive capacity showed that of the 500 GB HD that comes with the PS4 system, only 407 GB is available for use.  This isn’t unusual since the tear down estimate IGN had was 408GB, with the OS and pre-installed apps taking up 93GB of data.

IGN then tried to fill the hard drive up with as many games and apps as they could, they managed to fit 27 games and 10 apps onto the console before the HD was full. Of course these numbers can vary with different games and such, but what we did learn from this is that the PS4 HD can hold 7 games more than the Xbox One.

It’s amazing how to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One both have 500GB hard drives yet the PS4 can hold up to 7 more games than the Xbox One. Also worth noting is that the PS4 supports HD swap out of the box while Xbox One users have to wait for Microsoft to implement the usage of external hard drives on their system, the Xbox One.

The PlayStation 4 beat the Xbox One in Kotaku’s install time and boot up comparison. The PS4 games usually get started in seconds while the Xbox One’s take minutes.

The games and apps IGN installed on the console are as follows:

Angry Birds Star Wars
Assassin’s Creed IV Black Flag
