The word is out, according to Game Informer Australia PlayStation game developers are already developing games for the Playstation 4. This is a HUGE announcement. We have been providing all types of rumors from all types of sources since before the start of 2010. However this is the first time an industry standard voice has reported on it. Game Informer Australia reported that Sony has made mention of the console, and that they currently have developers working on games now!
Sony’s PlayStation 3 has been around since 2006 and there have been many rumors that the next-generation console will arrive as soon as 2012.
The recent edition of Game Informer claims that game developers are starting work on games for the as of yet unannounced Sony PlayStation 4. Most games take 10 to 16 months to be fully developed; so game developers need advanced notice.

This is certainly not a formal announcement regarding the new device but does show that the Playstation 4 is on the horizon. This is a crucial time in the development stage, when Sony is preparing the publishing partners for the new release… Makes you wonder how much information these publishing partners are getting on the new console specs, and if there is even possibly a working model out there some where…

In the past, Sony has released a new console every 6 years, in 1994, 2000, and 2006, and if they are planning to continue this trend, we could get a PS4 in late 2012. Stay up to date on the Playstation 4 release date as information becomes available.
Perhaps Sony won’t be announcing the PS4 anytime soon, but the fact that they said developers are working on PlayStation 4 is good news.
Sony has not commented on the story, however, Game Informer has the article in their news section and not their rumors section. We are moving beyond rumors and quickly approaching a time when we will know what the Playstation 4 will be all about… But before then, we ask the SonyPS4.com readers;

There are many reports that Sony is working closely with several developers to ensure that the Playstation 4 SDK (standard development kit) will be much easier to use for game developers, which will result in more/better game titles for the Playstation 4. One of the few complaints regarding the Playstation 3 was the difficulty level in developing games, and how this could have adversely effected the number of titles released, there are a lot of great game titles for the Playstation 3… but maybe there could have been more. That is why we are so excited that Sony is working closely with developers to create an SDK that can be easily used to create riveting and amazing game titles.

Honestly I don’t think its the right time to release it. Also i’ve noticed a pattern in the consoles… PS1 used CD’s, PS2 used DVD’s, PS3 used blu-ray,
So when playstation 4 is out I have a feeling it might be when a new disk type is out… But then again theres going to be 3D blu-ray.. Right now is just NOT the time for a PS4.
Unless there’s a MAJOR hardware improvement (it will run faster, have less crash problems, not overheat, compatible with more than just USB mice and keyboards, etc.), sony shouldn’t be making this.
they should if theres going to be a gb of video memory usb 3.0 and bluetooth 3.0 also wireless n dual band

It will probably be a little more than the PS3 when it first came out. Right now, the date has not been released for the PS4, so there will not be any information on the price until the announcement for the release (probably not even til closer to the actual release).
When we find out, we will definitely create a post to inform the eagerly awaiting gamers.
they went overboard on the ps3 just to overdominate xbox360 but if they didnt go over board then ps4 and ps5 wood be some of those things and ps6 wood be hard 2 make.and yes u have 2 know that they r gonna make that many
Well so long as it works, they cooperate with Big names such as EA, Zipper, ect… work on thier servers, and update the main drives and such the PS4 will be my new wife
jkjk, i just want the new ps4 to have a signal booster so you always have a great connection with the psn. cause my ps3 is barely connected. so if they can put something in the ps4 so that it can connect with your router better ill be happy and there is a pattern with disc types, cds, dvds, bluray, if sony can make it this far im sure thier thinking of a new type of disc something like real life graphics, ;D jkjk that would be cool it will probably cost $500 though. but im happy to hear its coming along well.

and please make something in the ps4 like a cooling pad or something so we addicted 12 hrs at a time gamers wont have to worry about overheating.
The ps4? I’m afraid that’s dumb, at least this early on. I know the console births generally happen 6 years after the last, but SO much has been accomplished for the ps3. Yes, there are technical problems with the system, but as far as graphics go, it’s nearly flawless. I think it’s too soon.
I think the Playsation 4 cost the same then cames the ps3. Its always the same…e.g iphone 2,3,4. And i think the dessingn is the same but al little bit bigger. I now the name of the new controller: dualshock 4 and the other information is open.

I’ve heard rumors that sony has been working on a new laser. The rumors state that it should have the capabilities to hold one terabyte of memory per disk. That was before I heard about a ps4. Now that I’m hearing about a ps4 I’m going to have to query for more info…
This is cool..im really excited what can PS4 can do, for a hardcore gamer like me.
The PS3 itself and Move will be enough to match the new Xbox and Wii consoles, so Sony should work harder on the PS4 and release it in mid to late 2011.

also, motion controller tech will be obsolete by the time the ps4 comes out

Figures, I just finally bought a PS3…FML!
I’ll be really disappointed if the PS4 uses disk based games. (except for backwards compability with PS3 games) Memory cards and flash drives are so affordable now days and would have a faster read time than disks. The options for games on memory cards would be staggering! Packaging would be smaller, the integrity of the card is much better than a scrtchy CD and the hardware for a card reader is much smaller than a CD drive. Mark my words people, the new look of movies, games, and music is memory cards and flash drives.
the ps3 is already the most advanced gaming console ever made..xbox 360 blows and the wii is for 5 year old gamers lol..sony made the ps3 an all one device I’m excited to see what the ps4 can offer as an all in one device..i don’t think it’ll be released any time soon the ps3 is just now getting recognized as the best console of all time..but the future and technology is sick
I think it is getting a little ridiculous. I just got a ps3 and now they’re already making the next which always leaves the older version obsolete. They should atleast make them so that they still play all of their older games without having to buy them all over again from the PSN. I think they should keep the old systems and just sell updated parts and chips to keep it up to date.
Maybe the next logical step for Playstation would be to make a Playstation 3.5. Major complaints are the development package and playstation network? Fix ‘em, put in a better cooling system for the online-game addicts out there, boost the chip a little, give it a larger memory base, and maybe give it the option of downloading new HD-quality games to the hard drive, instead of having to go to the store to buy them? How many people are mad because the new version of Guitar Hero was sold out first day? or the new final fantasy game, or Ever-Quest 3? Give us a ‘download’ option. We already have a hard drive so we can access data faster than a DVD, give the 3.5 a terrabyte in one hard drive. Have the Playstation Store auto-ship preorders to your playstation at 12:01 am release day. Give us a reliable wireless mouse/keyboard setup so we don’t need a laptop. Give us a linux-based opperating system that feels like a console menu so that we can web-surf easy, e-mail easy, do online school-work? MS Office for PS4?
I agree with Sniv. And how about 4 slots instead of 2, with a larger set of gb?
I love everything I’ve heard about PS4, and I like some of the ideas people have mentioned on here.
I’m sure they will stick with disks for game play, although flash drives doesn’t sound like a bad idea. I don’t know how much faster or slower the console would be able to read the information from a disk or drive, or which would be more cost effective (I’m thinking the disk).
I love the winning concept for the console, and the controllers look cool but I question how comfortable they would be. The current controller style has lasted and been so successful because of how formfitting and comfortable it has been. One controller suggestion though: make them more durable. A lot of us have.. um.. temper problems. heheh.
Can’t wait for the release! It will be the first console I will have ever have pre-ordered.

dude i own both ps3 and xbox 360 and its far superior the the hardware of the ps3 and much easuer to program for. Why do you think there are soo many more GOOD exclusive games for the xbox?
The xbox is easier to code for, the biggest folly of the Playstation 3 was the game development software…. But the Playstation 3 on any level has superior hardware, just goes to show you how important an easy to use SDK (standard development kit) is.

SDK = Software Development Kit not standard development kit. Morons.
ive seen a news some years back that a new type of laser reader was on development already. it was supposed to be 5 times stronger than bluray. the report also stated that the expected time for it to be commercialized was 5 years. maybe this is what they will be using it for first. after all, movies are not in dire need of that much power as of yet anyway so better games would be a good bet to use it on.
The future of gaming!!!! Would love a more virtual reality experience of gaming for the Sony Console… One that imerses you in the entire experience… The possibility of taking gaming to the next level is mind blowing!!!!… What if the gaming console could be played outdoors in any kind of weather; was wireless & could be projected onto any surface imaginable? These are exciting times for gaming!!!
