Twitch announced today that PlayStation 4 owners were 20% of Twitch broadcasts from December 23rd 2013 to January 3rd 2014. Sony also announced today that more than 1.7 million streams have been broadcasted since the release of the PlayStation 4 on the 15th of November 2013. The press release stated that 55 million minutes of broadcast through the PlayStation 4 system on Twitch and Ustream.
Gameplay broadcast generated almost 22 million sessions, Ustream reported that the average was 40 minutes per session on its service.
Twitch VP of Marketing, Matthew DiPietro, said that the company was confident that implementing their service in Sony’s next gen console was going to be a game changer.
“Based on our success with PlayStation 4, which currently represents twenty percent of our broadcaster base, our vision was on the mark,” DiPietro said. “We envision a day when broadcasting your gameplay is a ubiquitous piece of the gaming experience. We’re well on our way.”
At CES yesterday, Sony Computer Entertainment President Andrew House also announced that Sony had sold 4.2 million units up until the 28th of December.
