Although the Sony Playstation 4 is far off in the future, a lot of speculations have been made. But Paul Holmen, the Vice President of Technology for Sony Computer Entertainment, Europe, has confirmed a PS4 in the future.
We have heard about the downloadable content and backward compatible software, but what I found interesting was the conversion to a more computer-friendly system. This means that a mouse and keyboard would be sold with the PS4 for easier usability. It seems that the gaming console is turning more into a multimedia unit, with gaming, entertainment, and chat, rather than a solely gaming.
It is true that Xbox took that first step towards a multimedia unit with their Xbox 360, but when Sony Playstation puts their minds towards a goal, they are unstoppable.
Also, it is rumored that the mouse/keyboard/Playstation pack may be added to the current PS3, to satisfy consumers as they wait for the next big thing,
So why would the PS4 be so much better than the already expensive, blue-ray packed PS3? Well, the Cell processer which Playstation consoles uses, is only partially being used. It was said 70 percent out of a hundred of the power is being taken advantage of which PS3 and it’s current games.
So it will take a lot of work for the PS4 to finally utilize its Cell Processor, but it will be worth the wait.

Yea the PS3′s CPU (Compute Processing Unit) “Cell Processor” is being bottle necked by its GPU (Graphics Processing Unit) called the RSX or the “Reality Synthesizer” but the reality is that its an already out of date card when compared to whats out now for the ever upgrading and expensive PC gaming platform. I can see Sony keeping the Cell Processor and using it on PS4 because with the money they save from doing that they can put a GPU in it so powerfull that the cell won’t have to handle much which by 2012 would be something like 4GB frame buffer with 1,500Mhz Clock.
i’m still waiting for some good games to hit the ps3!!! who cares about ps4 right now, we havn’t even got 1 gran turismo yet while there averages 2 gt’s per ps generation?? i wanna see mortal kombat make it to ps3 too, deception was one of the best games ever. it’s sad to see all these lame un-heard of titles making it to ps3
Yea, I mean, Im gonna get a PS4 but right now Im still waiting for a NEW and GOOD Mortal Kombat to be released. And also want the klassic Mortal Kombats to be released on PSN. PS4 is far, far in the future. Even when it comes out, Im going to wait until a Mortal Kombat title is going to be released on it, then I’ll buy it.
Jiz, there are already great games out for the ps3. If you haven’t noticed, the popularity of “Gran Turismo” and other racing games has dropped. It gets boring. You play one game, race cars, play the next race cars. OMG this game I can race some other weird vehicles cool, oh cars, cars. Boring. It get’s lame.
RPG, FPS, and Action games are all the rave. Mortal Kombat won’t ever again be good. It was great in it’s prime, but it got old. Beside’s there are a million fighting games all over. Get your Nintendo out if you must play some mortal kombat. Even the movie didn’t make much profit.
As for lame-unheard of titles? What’s so bad about new games coming out? With different stories and motives, and gameplay? Nothing. Lol, if you honestly spend your money on these consoles just to get updated versions of games barely anyone cares about anymore, that’s cool, but I actually enjoy busting out some multiplayer COD, and any games that hit the shelf. They should put mortal kombat on the wii, a crap game for a crap system.
And if you want to be serious, Call Of Duty Modern Warfare 2 has broken selling records worldwide. Final Fantasy games are becoming less and less imitations of the once amazing final fantasy 7, and becoming there own stories. Which attracts more people. The only people who complain are those who think they are hardcore final fantasy fans. But are really only final fantasy 7 fans. They whine that the same characters, fighting styles, etc. that were acceptable on those crap systems of the time have been changed to give more difficulty, strategy, and add more elements to an rpg other than random battles. It’s all about moving forward, and getting more people to play with.
Since consoles are going the 3D as well as motion way, I’d rather see some really interactive games than omg I’m fighting Sonya from Mortal Kombat, like I did for years and years, the only new thing is better graphics, whoo hoo. Either get with the times, or go find a retro arcade where nerds from the eighties get together and play crappy games.
i dont think this will be the used version because if playstation changes their controls the lose alot of buisness including mine the have been virtually the same since ps1
I see people talking about games types they think should come out and i agree they are getting BORING. to much reality and not enough imagination its like my grandma is coming up with concepts and storys. Sony and xbox both should be asking people what kind of games should they make like a spacepilot game where you go to many planets kinda like mass effect but little to no time out of the ship. Or games where you have godlike beings fighting and Kratos(God OF War) was not a god he was a bad ass, not a god. GOD= Semi to complete planet destroying power. I wanna chop down a mountain or creat a river or lake from a side effect of battle. Spore is a great concept for a game just a little to cartooney but other than that i think its one of the best. Lost of hours of playability and extreme customization. Spacesports/Fantasysports… i dont mean like NFL blitz that was just a alternate football game. Rpg and shooters are doing so wel because they are thing we cant do in real life take a note frome that and expand. Where is a supercustomizabe superhero game, make-a-hero sounds pretty cool. well i am done. I have like a million different game ideas get a hold of me if you want more but those you’ll have to buy these i just wanna play
