Playstation 4 is believed by many to be coming in the next couple of years, and coming strong... The main reason it is expected to do so well is what Sony was showing off at the last CES. This year Sony had at their booth 3D HDTV technology! By wearing 3D glasses, and set up on a custom 3D HDTV, there is a gaming experience like no other...
Yes there are some hurtles to get past, such as no one yet owns a 3D HDTV, and there are some minor technology gaps to jump to get this into the millions of households who will desire it. But the Sony Playstation area at this years CES has the technology in action, and supporting some of the best and most graphic Playstation 3 titles. This was an experience that simply cant be adequately explained in words, there is nothing like having your game jump out at you.
The Sony booth with the 3D Playstation technology was a hit, and sparked more curiosity than any other booth at this years CES. Sony has yet to release plans for the Playstation 4, or plans to retool any of their games to a 3D standard, but why else would they have shown off that they could?
Many spectulate that this was just to get the gamers mouth wet, cause lets face it seeing your enemies charge you in 3D is worlds better than shaking around a couple of joysticks... The Wii is one of the leading selling consoles today for the simple reason, its more than a gaming console, it is a at home gym... So it gained market share that no other console had yet stepped in, when the next generation of Playstation comes out, expect it to have many of the same features in game play such as the live action play and movable controllers, and hopefully with some 3D technology integrated.
