The biggest change for the Playstation’s new controller is that there is now a touch pad, this is something completely unique to Playstation 4, and possibly any console ever, and will offer an endless number of possibilities for developers to incorporate new types of game play into the next generation of gaming. A lot of games, especially us at sonyps4.com, are incredibly excited to see where the developers go with this new addition to the Dualshock controller franchise.
Dualshock 4 controllers also feature a new light bar. Located on top of the controller this features helps in identifying players, or can be utilized to show in game “emergency stats” such as blinking when under attack, or turning red if a player is low on life. Powered by 3 separate LED lights to produce a wide range of colors to give game developers the most possible freedom in terms of how to utilize the new light bar.
The Playstation 4 controller also now features a share button, and it is awesome. You can stream live game play, or save game videos directly onto Ustream, to be shared manually or through Facebook. The implications of this type of social interaction with console games is just mind blowing. I look forward to the millions of game play videos, and thousands of new gamer personalities that will likely emerge from them.
Dualshock 4 controllers will feature a built in speaker system as well as built in head set jack. Seriously, just let that sick in. You can connect your headset and wirelessly chat with your friends playing online.
One of the aspects of the Dualshock that has always been a favorite is the vibrations in the controller… and that has not gone away. The new Dualshock 4 built with multiple vibration motors to give a greater sense of immersion for players.
All of this makes the Dualshock 4 the greatest Dualshock of all time, and possibly the greatest controller.
