PlayStation 4 now available in 48 countries around the world

The Sony PlayStation 4 has launched in 16 new markets today, these include Greece, Venezuela and South Africa.

The PS4 is the most powerful video game console ever created according to Sony, and its not available in 48 countries around the world, after today’s expansion into 16 new markets.

It is available in Czech Republic, Greece, Slovakia, Turkey, United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain, Oman and South Africa. Also the PS4 goes on sale a a little bit later today in Bolivia, Nicaragua, Paraguay, Uruguay and Venezuela.

Sony is hoping that this expansion of markets can get them to to their goal of 3 million units sold world wide for the 2013 year.

The PS4 gaming console will be released in many other countries before 2014 and into the first months of 2014. “If you’re still waiting, thank you so much for your patience, we are doing our upmost to ensure availability in your region as soon as possible,” Sony said.

Meanwhile the PS4 rival, Xbox One is only available in 13 countries around the world. Despite different rumors from each company the competition for best selling console is at a dead heat with 2 million a piece.

It is rumored that the delayed regions for Xbox One would have to wait until late 2014 for their consoles to be released but this has not yet been confirmed by Microsoft.
