A PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita bundle would be a very interesting offer from Sony, but there is no such bundle in the works at this time, a PlayStation executive by the name of John Koller told GameSpot this week:
“We certainly would look at it. I think it’s an interesting proposition,” Koller said, noting that Sony has “no firm plans” to offer such a bundle right now.
Some retailers have already started bundling the PS4/PS Vita but so far Sony have not offered an official SKU that has both consoles in one pack.
Even though Sony has not bundled the two consoles together, it seems gamers are buying both the devices together quite frequently. Koller said. “You see movement of Vita with PS4 at that time of purchase,” Koller said, referencing retailer checks. “So I think we need to take a look [a PS4/PS Vita bundle].”
“I like the idea personally of being able to put them together if not as a bundle but as a marketed experience point,” Koller said. “So Vita we think fits very, very well as a companion device for the PS4. But, I stop there because I want to make sure Vita retains the beauty of what makes Vita Vita. And that’s that it’s got it’s own unique kind of bespoke games.”
Koller said that the device’s sales have been up since the release of the PS4 even though he did not give specific sales numbers.
The biggest reason Sony may not be looking at bundling these two devices at the moment might come right down to pricing. The PlayStation 4 sells for $100 less than the Xbox One, and bundling a $200 device with it would reduce this competitive edge that Sony has over Microsoft.
Sony announced and we reported yesterday that there will be a PS Vita Slim released in United States in the form of a Borderlands 2 Limited Edition Bundle.
