No new Xbox 720 Ever?

Recently in an interview the head of Microsoft Game Studios mr. Phil Spencer himself claimed there were NO plans for a new generation of Xbox consoles, and that the Xbox 720 was purely rumor... Phil Spencer also stated that the new motion control system soon to be released would INDEFINITELY expand the lifespan of the Xbox console... Which to be honest is impossible, how can anyone state that any console would never need to be updated, now were not saying they are planning the Xbox 720 but certainly they will need to launch a future console someday...

"We instead want consumers and developers to know that we are all going to make a huge return on that original investment in the hardware – the one Microsoft made in building it, the one developers made in making games for it, and the investment consumers made in buying the console. In the current climate that's something people are going to appreciate much more."
With all that said, its illogical to assume they are telling the truth when they say they wont need another console ever, just that they are unwilling to commit to anything now... And remember when a new console is on the way (which is currently unlikely from microsoft) they will still be denying it.

Indefinitely means “not definite”… in other words it means “with no end defined”. It is NOT the same thing as “forever”.
Every console has an indefinite life span – until the release date for the next gen console has been established, at which point the life span becomes definite (defined).
Learning a little bit of English will go a long way.
LOL thanks for the correction, it was more or less satire, of course there will be another Xbox it is a great console, just as there will be another Playstation.
Well I guess they are being sneaky in a way – they are releasing Project Natal next year – which is like a next gen add-on to the 360 anyways. I guess they figure more 360 owners will by the add-on than would buy a 720..at least in the short term….I guess they’ll then add a new processor, tweak the graphcis and sound, add NAtal into the 360 and call it the 720!
They may be playing games with grammar there by using the term “indefinite” but the fact remains if Sony release a new console, Microsoft will. That’s a cast-iron guarantee. The world spins on capitalism and “keeping up with the Jones’”. Whether you’re a manufacturer or a consumer, you want the best product. There will be another Xbox and another Playstation as surely as night follows day.

But it did make an interesting article.LOL There will always be expansion and ingenuity if a company plans on staying around, and even if the company desires, at some point a new console becomes absolutely necessary just to keep up with all of the technological advances and remain on the cutting edge of gaming capabilities.
