NGP Officially Named PS Vita

It’s pretty much official: the NGP will be called the PS Vita or Playstation Vita.
There have are been rumors flying around for days about the new name, like the proofs that showed up on a blog but subsequently deleted with a: “This has to be one of the stupidest things I’ve ever done. I don’t know what I was thinking. I’m sorry. I really am,” from Hugo Miramontes. These proofs showed in the top left the PS Vita logo in PSP font, and the actual device says “PS VITA” on the bottom.
Next proof? PlayStation’s website has a notice about the NGP being revealed at E3 2011 on June 6. The site can be found here.
With a little digging around, we pulled up the source code and found something they probably didn’t want anyone to see:
Do you see that? That is three separate times PS Vita is listed. It seems Sony got a little antsy and got the pages setup (not uploaded yet—we checked just to be sure). Now, this isn’t a direct confirmation from the mouth of Sony, but why would they prepare their website if it wasn’t as good as official?
Right before the PS Move was released, it was known as the Arc. Within the last month they changed it, so we won’t know until it is revealed.
The direct source won’t confirm it until June 6, but this surely makes it 99% likely the NGP (PSP2) will be called the PS Vita.
