Backwards Compatible Playstation 3

A Backwards Compatible Playstation 3 is something that I know a lot of gamers would really appreciate, but the reality of the situation is that it is very unlikely for Sony to release a Backwards Compatible Playstation 3, due to economic issues. With the thin Playstation 3 hitting shelves soon, and a price cut already having been announced by several of the electronic and game shops, as well as almost everywhere else you can find a Playstation 3... There just simply isn't the demand for the Backwards Compatible Playstation 3.
The Backwards Compatible Playstation 3, is most unlikely due to the timing, with the recession in full swing it is unlikely that the majority of gamers would be willing to shell out several hundred dollars, (400-600 easily) for a console that is likely to be obsolete as soon as the Playstation 4 is announced.
Creating a Backwards Compatible Playstation 3 would do far more harm than good for Sony, and almost force the company to keep from launching the Playstation 4, for several more years... Somethat that would surely, again, put them on a launch schedule behind Microsoft's Xbox and cost Playstation significant market share.
Backwards Compatible Playstation 3 is likely to be replaced by the Playstation 4... Sony knows that many of the gamers currently operating a Playstation are still using a Playstation 2, either as a supplemental or a primary gaming system. The Playstation 4 would finally give Sony the chance to put all of the gamers on a single console... This is something that Playstation fans have been asking for since the debut of the Playstation 3, and it is something that could help Sony sell a lot of consoles!
The number of Playstation 4 consoles sold will greatly depend on the backwards compatibility of the system. With the number of Playstation 3 games in circulation, coupled with the number of Playstation 2 games in circulation, a Playstation 4 that isn't backwards compatible will likely suffer greatly for the first couple of years after launch... Sony knows this. Sony knows that selling consoles is how to gain market share, and that they are going to need the Playstation 4 to sell out, and not like the Playstation 3 did, to gamers wanting to use them not people standing in line to put the console on Ebay...
At SonyPS4.com we truely believe that the Backwards Compatible Playstation 3 is one of the most unlikely rumors circling the Playstation team... We are also hoping against the Backwards Compatible Playstation 3, as it is likely to put the Playstation 4 back several years, and could cost Sony serious market share again Microsoft durning the next generation of consoles.
What do you the readers think? Do you want a Backwards Compatible Playstation 3, or would you rather the Compatibility issue be addressed during the launch of the Playstation 4.
The Playstation 4 Release

The Playstation 4 is believed to be the next console to hit shelves, but lets take a look at why... With many experts beginning to believe the next generation of consoles can be just around the corner, lets look at some different reasons why the Playstation 4 may be the first console to hit the shelves, but it is unlikely that any console will this year or next.
I don’t expect the PS4 to be released until late 2011 at the earliest, probably 2012. The PS3 has had very poor sales, so Sony would make the next console as soon as possible to re boost consumer interest.
Nintendo Wii is doing just fine, so they wouldn’t be in a rush. Remember as of now they are still the leader, by far, when it comes to motion sensitive controls, and only need to offer a new console (or addon?) to provide the Nintendo Wii in HD.
Microsoft’s Xbox 360 is doing okay, could be better but I don’t believe any new console is rapidly approaching from them. The Xbox, like the Playstation, has built a following but the majority of the players are content, and not yet looking for much from Microsoft in terms of a new console. The biggest advantage that the Xbox 360 has had in it's favor over the last generation of consoles, is it's early release date... Yet the console has fallen short in terms of developing an audience that is loyal, or at least nearly as loyal as the Playstation audience has become.
With the most recent price cut however, sales may pick up substantially which may even accelerate Sony’s position in this seventh generation of video games competition. Just when you thought PS3 lost for sure, it got right back up and ready to compete. The Playstation will be a constant favorite of real gamers, the console has some of the most advanced features, and Playstation has always carried some of the greatest game titles.
Playstation 4 (PS4) vs. Xbox 720

The Playstation and Xbox have been going at it since Microsoft has gotten into the console business, and the next generation of consoles will be no different. The current consumer is not yet ready for the next generation of consoles, but its not too early to start looking at what may be coming, and what should be coming. A lot of crazy rumors have gone around regarding the Playstation 4, we have even help spread many of them (always in the Playstation 4 rumor section), but in reality it is not necessary for Playstation to launch first, and will likely not even be announced until a year after the Xbox 720.

Playstation Logo
Microsoft was only able to wait four years after the launch of the Xbox before they announced the Xbox 360, while the Playstation 3 was launched 6 years after the Playstation 2. Longer console life means more profitability for the company, and usually better services and products because of it! And the 2 year stretch has nothing on what Sony could get away with now...
The Xbox 720 will likely be necessary within a year or so for Microsoft to continue to keep pace with the Playstation 3 game capabilities, thats just to keep up. Few of the existing Playstation 3 games use all of the possible disk space that the Blu-Ray technology allows, meaning there is a lot of growth available still for the Playstation 3 market... And the longer the Playstation 3 can stay around, the less it will cost developers to utelize and thus more/better games.
With the Xbox 360 sales begining to drop, and current hardware limitations, it is likely that Microsoft will be the next to launch a new console... for now referred to as the Xbox 720. Current assumed plans for the Xbox 360 include price cuts for the coming Christmas sales rush, and possibly again late in the spring.

Xbox Logo
Xbox launching their next generation console likely 2 or 3 years before Sony even announces the next generation of Playstation, will give Sony the opportunity to live up to the 10 year console lifespan commited to earlier. This type of spread will also give Playstation amazing market share, and more than enough time to make up for all of the money invested into the Playstation 3, which lets admit, the Playstation 3 over delivers in every way the hardware can.
The number of upgrades that can still be added to the Playstation 3, make it unlikely to see a Playstation 4 in the next couple of years, and the only NECESSARY hardware upgrade is something to compete with the Wii motion sensing capabilities... wonder if it will be an upgrade or introduced on the Playstation 4?
In our opinion Playstation 4 will stand head and shoulders above the Xbox 720, and likely have foes we have not even known yet... could Apple be brewing up a system? Xbox or Playstation 4, who do you think will launch first?
Are consumers ready for the PS4?

Consumers are not ready for the Playstation 4, it is just still to early. While the technology is available to Sony to come up with a more powerful gaming system, less than 1/2 of the users of the Playstation 3 are capable of taking advantage of the HD capabilities... And almost none of the Playstation 3 games take full advantage of the Blu-Ray technology available.

Sony Playstation 4 Concept Design
With the majority of the Playstation 3 consoles not currently hooked up to an HDTV, what gain would there be for the average consumer in a console so far beyond their home theater equipment capabilities.
The Playstation 3 is already network ready, High Definition capable, a Blue-Ray player, and the most capable gaming console available to the public... Thanks to the firmware upgrades and online capabilities of the Playstation 3, Sony and other hardware companies can continue to release console improvements, while keeping to the same console.
The future of gaming is online, there is no question about it... The Playstation 3 is online, and more than capable to hold its own... For these reasons, it will be at least a couple of years before the Playstation 4 is even seriouly considered by Sony as something the consumers may be prepared for...
Are the next gen console PS4 coming soon?

Are the next gen console PS4 or Xbox 3 really coming soon?
In this age of gaming wars where companies fight for the supremacy of the gaming industry, Nintendo, Sony and Microsoft have been competing. These companies have been trying hard to woo the consumers with variety of features. In addition, most of all the age of integration has come now with adding of more than one device into the other. Gadgets are made such that they perform works of other gadgets too.
For example the PlayStation 3 which is a gaming rig and a technology marvel is made for killer graphics and excellent performance. Apart from that, a blu ray drive is integrated into it so that it can be used as a blu ray player eliminating the need to buy a standalone blu ray drive. A 160 gb hard disk is also added in the drive so that one can save photos , videos, songs and others. In Wii, you have card reader so that one can connect media to the console and use it as a media player. Xbox console is the best ever online gaming device now with millions and millions of people using it for online gaming.
Millions of dollars have been diverted to the research and development of these devices over the past years where each company tried to outcast the other by improving their consoles. The playstation updated to playstation two and later on to playstation three. Xbox released a normal Xbox and then upgraded to Xbox 360. Like this the fight among these companies have brought to the best of gaming devices available now .
But since they made a trend of bring up newer consoles now and then , everyone is looking forward for a Xbox 3 and the PS4 . Though these are good enough for now, the rumors of next generation of consoles under development are creating raves.
Considering the amount of money spent on the development of these consoles the companies would not want to release out a new one they still did not capitalize much on it yet. and also this will cause a heavy pressure from the software manufacturers as all that they made for these consoles will be obsolete if a newer console comes up . so possibility of releasing a newer version of these consoles until 2012 -2013 is very meek .
Why should they release a new console when the rigs they made are good enough for some more year from now and it’s a strongly wise decision to stick to it. But then again if someone else dares to launch a new console sooner they can capitalize on that initially but sooner and later due to the completion others will also have to follow and release newer model but eventually it’s the consumer who will be happy with such kind of move than the companies.
So finally it is clear that there is as such no need to release newer models but they will certainly delay the release as long as possible . However, someone will blink first in between for sure!!
Sony’s PlayStation 4 Experience

The PlayStation 4 Experience
Sony’s Play Station has created quite a buzz in the gaming industry. All the releases of the Playstation have been a hit and the latest version PS4 will be released soon. In order to know the real gaming experience we should consider how different games work in it. We can consider six types of games to illustrate the gaming experience. A first person shooter game, a dancing game, an astronaut game, a swimming game, a fighting game and a skydiving game will give a better view of the gaming experience in the PS4.
If a game contains all these elements then it would be even better. In a 3d game the motion detection on the entire limbs of your feet, hands allow the game to detect your location and velocity of movement. In astronaut games, the experience of space walking can be brought about realistically by moving your arms and feet alone. This brings us a unique experience. The movements that you do in real time will be reciprocated on screen and your avatar on-screen would also do the same things. Such correlation between the movements has been brought about and hence this is a great opportunity to enjoy. The force of the movement will also be tracked and actions performed accordingly. For example, if you need to insert something in the satellite, then you have to handle it in a delicate fashion. Also the movement should be perfect as a wrong movement could lead us into trouble in the game.
In a swimming game for instance, the correct stroke movement will help you move faster while the wrong stroke movement will slow you down drastically.
While rotating in space if you happen to see the sun you’ll not be able to see anything else due to extreme brightness. This can also happen in games where grenades are thrown or you get hit by a photon laser. This real life experience brings a lot of excitement to these games.
All the games have these sorts of experiences. In skydiving, if you give keep your hands and feet closer you will dive properly. If it is far apart then it would create problems. Rotation of head also is realistic. When you rotate your head you’ll be able to look in different directions. The experience is so realistic that whenever you crash or let your avatar on-screen die, a minor shock on the limbs will be felt as a punishment for death. In games like vibrations are felt each time a goal is scored. In first person shooter games, whenever we get hit, we feel vibrations in the joystick. In dancing games, the dance depends on how well you place your feet. These kinds of facilities will definitely make the next generation gaming a joy to play.
A major advancement in Playstation 4 is the use of wireless technology. The joysticks will no longer be connected using wires. Instead wireless sensors are used for increased mobility. The wireless technology used depends on the distance, power usage and purpose. Transferring of files will be done by transfer jet. Bluetooth 3.0 version will also used. DDR4 RAM and latest graphic cards will also be in place. All the latest technologies will be present in the latest version of Sony so that it is liked by all the people.
PS4 is to replace PS3

PS4 is coming to replace PS3 Sooner than Expected
Sony is surprising the gaming industry once again. But this time they are trying to catch up with new technologies and new advancements in the gaming industry. A clear example of Sony’s efforts is the release of the next generation in the Play Station console empire, the PS4. It will be released even before the ten year mark that they set up for themselves with the PS3 that was released a few years back.
Sony always said that the PS3 would be their game as a platform for a decade, but SCEE (Sony Computer Entertainment Europe) boss David Reeves says he does not know whether 8, 9 or even 10 years. Not sure that this issue, today's date, but some things come into my mind.
First, the PS2 is still strong, according to the PS3 is available in most large customers and the existing players, we must also continue to buy the PS2 games. It is not a death stop date by all means. Secondly, this means PS4 could be here sooner than planned, but David Reeves stated that "it is not in sight." Years. Mantra of the Sony PS3 is a console with 10 years of age.
It is possible that the point of "8, 9 or 10 years" by the weakening of the public the possibility that the PS4 will be sooner than later.
But I think that the statement in the context of the statement that it’s other console makers primarily because of outdated ideas of competition on the hardware specifications alone. The PS3 is a fine material, as well as their potential is not being used to make it easier to run the program and give you a true friend and competencies on the market in search of the good work on the software and then on new hardware. It is not necessary that the new machines on the runway, to oppose the statements of the competitor machines primarily. Only the works of The Kinks, as we have already have.
We do not know for sure when the PS4 will be here but it might be soon enough that all gamers around the world should start feeling the excitement about this new console. Sony has never disappointed the gaming industry. This is why the PSP and the PS2 are still strong in the industry, even after the release of the infamous PS3 a while back. As for now, all there is to do is wait for more news from Sony, next time they might say something about when the PS4 will be here.
Playstation 4 When is it coming?

Playstation 4 – is it really happening?
All of you might have been heard of the supposed rumor of Sony entertainment company of leakage of the specs of the much hyped PS4 along with a blue print of the hardware stuff of the gaming console. Here are some of the details of the much-hyped article released by a Japanese magazine.
The play station 4 essentially will be built on the existing platform of PS3 as this will decrease the cost of production and also decrease costs on developing of newer technology. Retaining the looks of original Playstation and adding the newer technology like the CELL BROADBAND ENGINE often referred to as cell BE, play station is working on aiming more at the common gamer this time like how Wii succeeded. This will help cost cut the development of new hardware and software for the cell BE based PlayStation 4. Therefore, eventually the cost of the unit and the software will be under control so that sales of the product are not affected.
When asked about this to Sony Entertainment Company, they simply denied these as pure rumors and said that nothing about it is true. However, the fact remains that they will be working on a PlayStation 4 idea as that is what the research and development wing is supposed to do.
The cell BE based playstation 3 has eight core processing units which give the power for the performance of the console. Now for this PS4 the leaked speculations show that there will about 32 core and that will improve the performance of the gaming engine drastically. Also the size of the cell Be which is about 90nm in the present PS3 has to shrunk to smaller size of about 45nm so that the increase in core number can still be fit in the older platform . the size of the die of CPU remains a important factor in essentially bringing down the cost of the unit. The usage of DRAM in the memory instead of the generic memory like JIREC is also considered for this.
Previously there was a rule of thumb that if you want high end gaming and best graphics one has to put in high initial investment for the console. But this was shattered when Nintendo Wii has pulled the market by a storm with its lowered priced console appealing to the casual gamers and with roaring sales. It is because of this Sony entertainment company is planning to revamp the playstation 3 and bring in a newer console that appeals to common casual gamer and also with lower cost price.
Sony has done a good job of employing in high development cost initially for the PS3 for the cell BE , as it is future proof for generations that doesn’t need new developments or put in more money into it. So now, it can easily work on the new Sony PS4 with lower cost of development.
But as such since PS3 itself didn’t reach the zenith of its sales and users , considering on the PS4 right now is not a right move if the alleged rumor is true.
Is Sony losing out in the game war?

Is Sony losing out in the game war?
Holiday season is the time when gaming consoles get the best spike in the sales and because of the same, any new console, model or games are generally released during the holiday season. But recent look at the sales of the consoles showed an unbelievable change in the trend of the gamers with Wii standing in the 1st position and Xbox in the second , the much hyped Playstation 3 had to settle down with a third position in the sales of last holiday season. So is Sony really losing out on the game war of consoles, is it that bad a console for the sales to drop drastically? Let us do an analysis on this.
Sony PlayStation is one of the best gaming devices with technology and hardware far better than the Nintendo Wii or the Microsoft Xbox. The processing speed, graphics and features are very user friendly. All is well till here but Sony was only worried about giving the best featured console but it did not research on what exactly the consumer wants from the console. A look at the interesting features of the other two consoles that were considered before buying them makes us think about it .
Nintendo Wii which initially had very little sales picked up very soon because of the improved games that are being more interactive and making the gamers move literally. The target audience here included people of all the ages, as it caters well to all of them. The choice of games is abundant and almost all the games are now released in Wii version also. In addition to this Wii costs excessively less and simply does what it is meant to do .Entertainment!
Microsoft Xbox with features much less than the PS3 had two main points for the success of it, Xbox live being the first, second being has abundant number of titles. Online gaming with Xbox live is one of the main reason people choose Xbox. Though it needs a subscription it really did not bother much for the consumers as we can see that there are millions of Xbox live accounts active.
The availability of lots and many game titles has an added point to choosing it.
Having told about the two now it clear as to why Sony had dropped down. Sony used blu ray disks and drive in the new PS3 which increased the cost of it and also because of this there are very few game titles available for it . The feature of online gaming was not given much importance and lost millions of sales for that one fact itself. Higher cost of the console could not match to the less costing Wii. The target audience was high-end serious gamers and there by narrowing the margin of the people who would choose this rig.
Overall, unless Sony bears all these things in mind and work to improve on it the possibility of it ruling again is less.
