Most Anticipated PS Vita Games

Within the next five months, the PS Vita will be on shelves everywhere. The latest date it could release is March 31, 2011, but the odds of a February PS Vita release date are more likely.

So, while we wait, it’s good to prepare yourself to buy some games. Sony PlayStation has already announced 100 titles for the PS Vita that will release. The five most anticipated games for the Vita are listed below:

Street Fighter x Tekken

When Capcom made a Nintendo 3DS version of Streetfighter, they actually did a great job. With the PSV, they are making Streetfighter x Tekken, a combination of two of the most favored characters of popular games.

For the Vita, Capcom has thrown in a new character: Cole McGrath from inFamous, powered by lightning.

Since we know the Vita will be able to cross over with the PS3, Capcom better make Streetfighter x Tekken compatible.

Streetfighter x Tekken is already available for preorder.

Uncharted: Golden Abyss

We’ve talked about Uncharted: Golden Abyss before. It’s the Number 1 Most Anticipated game for the PS Vita. When the Vita was revealed, it was Uncharted gameplay which we saw in trailers.

Set before the first Uncharted in a standalone tale, Uncharted: Golden Abyss features Nathan Drake in a quality so clear and precise, it is breathtaking. Remember: when the PS3 released, they used Uncharted as a “here’s what we can do” game, showing all the techs that put that console above the rest.

You can pre-order Uncharted: Golden Abyss today.

Army Corps of Hell

A PS Vita exclusive, Army Corps of Hell allows you to play as the King of Hell. He has been banished and, with the help of his army of goblin soldiers, is attempting to reclaim his rightful throne in Hell. Full of dark humor and a metal-type feel, Army Corps of Hell is a good time.

Ruin

Ruin seems like a Diablo-style game, visually a really high quality. It’s integrated with the social-networking of the Vita, though, which makes Ruin on a level of its own.

It will appeal to both casual and dedicated gamers. You can raid an opponents lair in real-time, play multiplayer, and more. The Cloud feature enables you to go from the PS3 to the Vita with ease.

Preorder Ruin for Vita today.

Katamari Damacy

A weirdness on all its own level, Katamari Damacy is more geared towards the casual gamer. It will incorporate the motion sensor on the Vita for a new gaming feel, making it one of the best launching games for the Vita.

PS Vita Release Date Pushed Back

We’ve been speculating for a while now about the release dates for the upcoming PlayStation Vita and PlayStation 3D Display, and now it seems one of the questions will be, vaguely, answered.

While we still hope the PS Display will release this year, the PS Vita will be released in 2012, is what the Sony Corp. Executive Vice, President Kaz Hirai, said. It will only be available in Japan during 2011 and, since it isn’t locked, it may be used in US (as far as we’ve been told; as pre-orders go up in Japan that you can use, we’ll let you know).

Why? Apparently Sony wants to guarantee top-of-the-line games for the Vita release line-up. He also said that we should expect a Q1 release, meaning before March. After several other interviews suggest that the PSV will earn 2.5 million before March 12, 2011, that means we can hope for a January or February release.

Is this good? So far, the opinion on the web is mixed. Some say they are glad that they can save longer for it, especially after the Christmas spend-spree. But Sony is making a mistake by not releasing the Vita before Christmas, since the only other new device on the market is the Nintendo 3DS. If the gamers have been waiting for the Vita get the Nintendo 3DS this Christmas, then how many will still want a Vita?

Harai also commented on the 3DS price cut, saying it would be ridiculous for the Vita to lower its price just because a different business lowered theirs. After all, the PSV is a great price for the high-quality machine it is.

I’m still hoping they decide to release it before Christmas anyway. At least you can still preorder the Vita.

What’s your opinion? Is a Vita 2012 release a bad idea?

Price Cut on PS Vita?

When the Nintendo 3DS released on March 27, 2011, we weren’t too phased by the $250 price tag. Now, Nintendo is doing a price cut that leaves people a little surprised, all the way down to $169.99.

Why? Well, much of the speculation stems from the PlayStation Vita price. Sony told us during E3 that the Vita will start at $249, the exact same price as the 3DS release, which is probably the reason Nintendo had to drop prices (and the fact it wasn’t selling as well as Nintendo expected for the first 3D portable gaming device).

But because of this price drop, more and more people are pushing for a PSV price cut. They think the Vita will “fail” if they don’t drop the price.

My opinion? That’s ridiculous.

The PS Vita is so much more powerful that the Nintendo 3DS that is isn’t even funny. The power of the hardware, the graphics, internet gameplay, and social networking (and we can’t forget the cameras, touchpad, and Near) put this platform far, far beyond the reach of the 3DS, even if Sony didn’t opt to go 3D with the PSP successor.

How do we know it will still succeed? Because Vita pre-orders are already sky high, letting us know that the Vita will sell-out upon release (and we aren’t surprised by that in the least).

Another reason why the PS Vita beats Nintendo 3DS? It can do what the Wii U (which releases next year) is hyped up over: console gameplay on a portable screen.

Sorry, Nintendo: it seems that Sony will beat you guys again in the technology department, and a simple price-cut won’t fix anything. Quality is always better than saving cash when it comes to gaming.
