Sony is pushing the limits on electronics once again with their newest addition to the family, the Sony Tablet. We’ve talked about the tablets before, but the S tablet is finally going to release – and it’s not that far away.

The Sony S Tablet has a September 16, 2011 release date. It will come in 16 GB and 32 GB versions, but the P Tablet has not been listed yet for release.

The S physically feels like a magazine in your hands, since one edge wraps around the back like a clip. It feels more sturdy than just a flat tablet this way and holds better in your hand.

You can play PlayStation games, read eBooks, listen to music, watch videos, and even control everything in your living room with this gadget due to the universal IR remote control inside.

It runs the Honeycomb OS, the newest Android version. The 9.4 inch LED-backlit TruBlack display is visually breathtaking, crisp, and clear. The dual-core 1.2 GHz processor allows for quick multi-tasking. It comes with Wi-Fi, Bluetooth connection that can stream to stereos, and a whole lot more.

Buy the Sony S Tablet today. The 16 GB S Tablet costs $499.99, while the 32GB S Tablet costs $599.99. While it’s the same price as good quality tablets on the market already, don’t forget the Sony always goes the extra mile to make you, the consumer, happy.

There’s no word on the P Tablet release date yet, which is a two-screen tablet that folds like a clam shell.

Sony Tablet S1 and S2 Pass FCC

Sony is expecting a Fall 2011 release for the Sony Tablets S1 and S2. While this could be possible, it makes us wonder why we haven’t heard official names for the tablets, nor have we seen direct specs.

This is probably due to the fact that Sony wants to have enough available for the new market before the system is launched. Many other devices (like the PS3) launched without very many games available, and Sony is trying to keep their customers happy, especially after the PSN hack.

The first step has been completed, though. The tablets passed the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) and that means we won’t have to wait too much longer (yeah, that means like within a year). They entered at least six different versions, suggesting there will be different amounts of storage and memory on the tablets and ranging in price.

There have been rumors and speculation that the tablets will carry PlayStation branding because they will control PS devices like a universal remote. Even though it was designed by Vaio, Sony will most likely not use that brand, since that is specifically their laptop line.

My favorite of the Sony Tablets is the S2, which closes up much like a purse. This seems more portable than most tablets, and more durable (hopefully). It can use the screens independently or merge them, depending on what you want to do. The S1 is the standard magazine-style, flat and large, similar to many mainstream tablets.

Rumors say the FCC version was compatible to AT&T network, which is shocking. Yes, we know the PS Vita will launch on AT&T, but the Tablets, as well? Were we the only ones who heard the crowd laugh and moan when that announcement was made at E3?

Sony Tablets Coming Soon

It should b a big year of releases for Sony.

They are coming out with a total of four new handheld gaming devices with the PlayStation compatibility. This includes the Xperia Play, a combination of cell phone and handheld gaming; the NGP which is due next year, pretty much the successor to the PSP; and now the S1 and S2 tablets.

The Sony Tablet information has just been officially released. Sony is known for producing high end gadgets, such as their TVs and of course the PS3, and now they are trying to dominate the handheld technology phase. Their PSP of course is popular, and they’ve been working on the NGP for years. Now, with the Xperia Play and Tablets coming into the works, how is the NGP going to be helpful?

It probably won’t be, actually. Since the Tablets and Xperia Play can all play with PlayStation, it doesn’t seem logical for a consumer to buy a device that only does one thing. Not only will the tablet be able to browse the web or do the same things as any other tablet on the market, it will be compatible for PlayStation gaming.

The first tablet is the “S1,” which is set up like a emagazine style. There is a flap coming out of the back to keep it slanted while on a desk, and features a 9.4 inch front. The “S2” is dual-screen with an exterior shaped like a clamshell, and the pair of 5.5 inch screens provides a laptop experience if you desire it.

They both will feature Android Honeycomb, the newest version of the Android software.

While the tablets have not yet been seen on the market, and a launch date hasn’t been announced, it is expected that Sony will bring a few to 2011 E3 for consumers to test.
