The main developer of PlayStation Home announced that they are working on a couple of Oculus Rift and PlayStation 4 projects. nDreams, a UK-based developer is no stranger to virtual reality gaming, they have created over 20 different test games to experiment with Oculus Rift. They are said according to a recent investor letter to be working on a new virtual reality game for the PlayStation 4 that will possibly run with the Oculus Rift or even Sony’s rumored virtual reality headset. According to the letter the PS4 virtual reality title will launch sometime in 2014 and it will be something very special in gaming.
Here is an official quote from the CEO of nDreams Studios, Mr. Patrick O’Luanaigh:
“I’m delighted to be able to officially announce that we are working on a PlayStation 4 title, which will launch in 2014,” he said in investor letter. “More details will follow next year, but it’s the most ambitious game we have ever created, and we can’t wait to reveal more about it – it’s going to be something truly special.”
“We’re also working on a game for the awesome Oculus Rift. VR is an area of technology that we believe will finally come of age in 2014, and you’ll see us investing a great deal of time and money into it.”
The studio have not added any more details other than the fact that the investor letter states it, but it seems to be pretty much confirmed that the PS4 will have virtual reality gaming sometime in 2014 and hopefully with its own virtual reality headset not with the Oculus Rift, which would still be awesome.
