In both cases there has been a lot of great art for created for the Playstation 4, and a lot of anticipation built... and the console is no where near even an official release announcement. Although recently the Playstation 4 has been acknowledged, not once but several times, by some of the big wigs over at Sony, making the Playstation 4 more than a dream. At this rate it could still be a few years before you find yourself ready to pre order your PS4... For now lets just dream, here are the Playstation 4 pictures. SonyPS4.com recently ran a contest for designers and fans of the Sony Playstation brand to design what they think the Playstation 4 console could look like. Below is the design and concept model for the Playstation 4 that was above and beyond the most amazing design submitted. Throughout the entire site you can see various Playstation 4 designs and concepts, but this is the one we really think represents the current trends in design.

There is a retro/tech design that has been incredibly popular in the last 5 years or so, and we find it incredibly likely that the Playstation 4 could offer this type of design, making it not just useful but more visually appealing as a part of every Playstation 4 owner's entertainment system. These designs are all produced on behalf of SonyPS4.com and do not represent anything from the actual Sony company, these concept designs for the Playstation 4 are to be considered fan art and do not represent anything official regarding the Playstation 4, as soon as an official design is released we will let you know.

The Playstation 3 had people lining up outside of stores for DAYS, and many of those that stood in line, did not even get a Playstation. That is why so many gamers are turning to online purchases, and that is why SonyPS4.com will go to great lengths to have every available and legitimate online retailer that will be offering the Playstation 4 for preorder.

As long as the Playstation 4 is available for pre order we will be offering links to those retailers that are making the pre order option available. With the Sony PS4 still just above rumor status and not yet officially announced it is hard to say even what year that the gaming console will be released. But with more and more rumors and attention returning to the subject it would be difficult to believe that the Playstation 4 could be any more than a couple of years from a formal announcement.

PS4 might not have a cell processor

According to The Examiner, Sony has already announced that they are working on the PS4 console. Paul Holmen, the Vice President of Technology for Sony Computer Entertainment in Europe, confirmed that there will be a Playstation 4 sometime in the future. However, they might not be using the cell processor that is currently being used in the playstation 3. They are still considering their options including the multi-core processor that is normally found in a computer. There are other options that Sony is looking at right now, including modifying the current cell processor.
The cell processor in the PS3 has many advantages over other gaming systems. Using a cell processor means that multimedia and vector processing applications are much faster than other gaming systems. Despite the advantages, many of the third party developers have problems programing for the system as recently seen with Sega's release of Bayonetta port. Because of this problem, Sony is looking to be more developer friendly with the release of the Playstation 4.
Whichever way Sony goes with their new console, it will become a faster and more effecive gaming console that will be like a computer. Usually a game goes from planing to reality in two years, so the earliest that the Playstation 4 will come out is 2012.

PS4 as a Multimedia Center

Although the Sony Playstation 4 is far off in the future, a lot of speculations have been made. But Paul Holmen, the Vice President of Technology for Sony Computer Entertainment, Europe, has confirmed a PS4 in the future.

We have heard about the downloadable content and backward compatible software, but what I found interesting was the conversion to a more computer-friendly system. This means that a mouse and keyboard would be sold with the PS4 for easier usability. It seems that the gaming console is turning more into a multimedia unit, with gaming, entertainment, and chat, rather than a solely gaming.

It is true that Xbox took that first step towards a multimedia unit with their Xbox 360, but when Sony Playstation puts their minds towards a goal, they are unstoppable.

Also, it is rumored that the mouse/keyboard/Playstation pack may be added to the current PS3, to satisfy consumers as they wait for the next big thing,

So why would the PS4 be so much better than the already expensive, blue-ray packed PS3? Well, the Cell processer which Playstation consoles uses, is only partially being used. It was said 70 percent out of a hundred of the power is being taken advantage of which PS3 and it’s current games.

So it will take a lot of work for the PS4 to finally utilize its Cell Processor, but it will be worth the wait.

Playstation 4 Release Almost Common Knowledge

A lot of people are beginning to talk about the Playstation 4 release, while it is expected to be on shelves winter 2012, it is a hot topic right now. Playstation 3 consoles are now nearly profitable for the Playstation brand, this is purely console cost. iSupply has reported the estimated cost to develop a Playstation 3 at only 38 dollars above the cost of a Playstaion 3 to a consumer. This means that very soon Sony will actually be making a profit on the Playstation 3 console, this is huge for Sony as a great amount of the gaming revenue comes from the games, distribution and licensing that is involved.

This paves the way for the development of the Playstation 4. There is a lot of spectulation if the PS4 will consist some of the 3d capabilities that have been recently displayed for the (possible) next generation of televisions.

This being released by Sony does send some mixed signals, but to be honest there were a lot of great exhibits this past year at the various game shows. The 3d television could bring a whole new generation of gaming, but there was another that also caught our eye, that made us think.... maybe the next generation of gaming will just be incredibly modular, something that there will be several additions for (with the success of all of the various little Wii toys, this is likely to be the way that all console brands go). One exhibit that we thought would make a great addition to the Playstation console was the projector, check out the video below to fully understand.

It is always great to see such unique designs and ideas for the gaming world, and this is going to be addition that I expect you to see on many consoles... although dont expect it to be called the J-dome, those guys will surely be bought out... and the product marketed by each consoles brand, but this is going to be a big hit in the gaming world when the big wigs catch up...

With all of the buzz about the Playstation 4, Google News has a story on the subject nealry every day (click here to check for your self) it is anyone guess what the PS4 will offer in terms of development capabilities, gaming abilities, or even type of processor (although there are lots of rumors... One thing is for certain, the popular expected release date is 2012... Playstation 4 is already a hot topic on Google in the search engine as well (click here to check for your self) it is amazing how much information if out there, it is just trying to determine what is legitimate and what is just more from the rumor mill. Magic the Gathering to be on Playstation 3

Playstation 3 is going to soon feature the all time card game classic Magic the Gathering. Set to be a huge launch for both Sony and Wizard's of the Coast (the creators of Magic the Gathering). Magic: The Gathering - Tactics will be the first Magic the Gathering title to be released for the Playstation 3. 3d online turn based strategy game that is already on many gamers radar, this is sure to be a hit for NEXT Christmas.

2010 holds a lot of great launches and introductions from Playstation, we can only sit back and wait...

Sony Online Entertainment and Wizards of the Coast are collaborating on the development of an online 3D turn-based strategy title called Magic: The Gathering - Tactics. The game will be coming to the PC in early 2010, with a PlayStation 3 version to follow later in the year. This will be the first Magic: The Gathering based videogame to come to the PlayStation 3.

Playstation 3 Media Model coming soon?

The Playstation 3 Media Model is the most frequent rumor being spoken amongst those in the know, and those who simple claim to be... With a slimmer more reasonably priced Playstation 3 having been just released, there is a price war amongst the consoles taking place. A lot of the price cutting and marketing that is being done right now, is in a struggle to ensure as many holiday shopping dollars as the console creators can.

This year Playstation is expected to go one step beyond simply reducing the price and slimming down America's favorite video game and entertainment console... They plan on seriously adding to the entertainment aspect of the console. The Playstation 3 Media Model is expected to have a built in TV tuner and be able to receive off air channels, in addition to a top of the line BluRay player and a Bluetooth controller to run the entire system from.

The Playstation 3 Media Model is expected to have a 250 gig hard drive as well as PlayTV and Blu-Ray, this will make the Playstation 3 Media Model the number one and most popular console in front rooms across America.

This goes to show the belief that Sony will be focusing on refinement rather than a new console, building a stronger Playstation 3 means stronger relationships with the consumers, as well as the game developers... And building niche specific Playstation 3 bundles can really help put Sony in the dominant position amongst the console creators.

No new Xbox 720 Ever?

Recently in an interview the head of Microsoft Game Studios mr. Phil Spencer himself claimed there were NO plans for a new generation of Xbox consoles, and that the Xbox 720 was purely rumor... Phil Spencer also stated that the new motion control system soon to be released would INDEFINITELY expand the lifespan of the Xbox console... Which to be honest is impossible, how can anyone state that any console would never need to be updated, now were not saying they are planning the Xbox 720 but certainly they will need to launch a future console someday...

A quote from Phil Spencer

"We instead want consumers and developers to know that we are all going to make a huge return on that original investment in the hardware – the one Microsoft made in building it, the one developers made in making games for it, and the investment consumers made in buying the console. In the current climate that's something people are going to appreciate much more."

With all that said, its illogical to assume they are telling the truth when they say they wont need another console ever, just that they are unwilling to commit to anything now... And remember when a new console is on the way (which is currently unlikely from microsoft) they will still be denying it.
