Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3
If you haven’t heard of the Call of Duty series of games, you’re probably living under a rock.
The very first game in the series, Call of Duty, released October 29, 2003. In the eight years since, seven titles have released, and now the eight is releasing on November 8, 2011.
The game features soldier warfare, obviously, in different situations. The most interesting aspect of Call of Duty is that every other game is developed by a different group, making the gameplay different and appealing to a variety of audiences. The problem with COD: Modern Warfare 3 (MW3 for short) is that the original developers of the MW line were fired, meaning Sledgehammer Games and Raven software took over where co-founders Jason West and Vince Zampella resided.
But everyone is excited for MW3. Already the pre-sales have gone through the roof of the best-selling games ever,
COD: Black Ops and Modern Warfare 2. A friend who works at a game store recently compared Xbox’s hit game Gears of War 3 preorders (releasing in September) were available for a month when MW3 preorders opened up, and within a week, MW3 presales doubled GOW3 presales. Amazing.
Oh, in case you haven’t heard, Activision is holding a one-time event to promote MW3 in Los Angeles, on the 2nd and 3rd of September 2011. It’s called Call of Duty: Experience and features the multiplayer reveal (where you can actually play!), and many other things not revealed in the trailers.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 is available for preorder, and that’s probably the smart choice: it’s going to sell out, just like all the other Call of Duty games.
