When someone thinks of gaming on the PlayStation 4, Electronic Arts wants to be the one you’re thinking about. EA has revealed that it was the No. 1 publisher on the PlayStation for in the western region during December. Titles like Battlefield 4, Madden NFL 25, FIFA 14 and Need for Speed: Rivals helped EA capture the top market share for the system.
FIFA 14 and Battlefield 4 did especially well, as they were two of the three top selling games in the West, which includes Europe and America, in December. They came in behind Call of Duty: Ghosts, FIFA 14 was the top selling game in Europe. EA represents 35% of all games sold on the PS4.
EA are boasting about the performance it had to the PlayStation 4, mainly because the console represents the future of gaming and also because EA’s games did not perform well on the PlayStation 3 during the holiday season. That caused the company to miss out on its revenue expectations, even though it did beat its earnings guidance.
“In a transitional quarter, EA delivered EPS results above our guidance driven by strong sales of our next-generation console titles, continued growth in our digital games and services, and financial discipline across the business,” EA chief financial officer Blake Jorgensen said.
EA did come out the gate strong with the new systems, the console launched in November, EA launched Battlefield 4, FIFA 14, Madden NFL 25, Need for Speed: Rivals, and NBA Live 14.
