Umm, there already are backwards compatible PS3's? The 60 and 20 gig as well was the 40 and I think the 80 are all either fully backward compatible (former models) or at least somewhat BC (later mentioned models). True Sony is not producing them anymore, but you can still find them around. My 60 gig is still going strong.

sony has committed to a ten year lifecycle with the ps3. and as bad as console sales have been for the ps3 i highly doubt were going to hear about a new playstation for a while. and those pictures you showed being the new ps4 are pictures of onlive which is a new console coming next year but has nothing to do with sony or microsoft or nintendo. its supposed to be able immulate games from any generation console via download which means it will be disc free. if this thing does well then you might see the end of of the sony console era period. so my suggestion is to be happy with your ps3 or xbox360 because with way the economy is going and all of the firmware updates there is not going to be a playstation 4 any time soon if not ever. so if your going to start a fan site about somthing that doesnt even exist or may never exist then you need to get your facts straight.

I think they should just wait til ps4 comes out for the backwards gaming. As much as I'd love to be able to play some ps2 games, I don't think many people have the $$ to go out and buy the same system just to play older games. Even though it will save us all $$ over time, right now no one really has an extra $400-$600 to spend on the same console they already have. Now when ps4 comes out people will be willing to spend that $$ again due to the update on graphics and anything else SONY adds to ps4, hopefully the backwards gaming.I'm lookin very forward to see what they do to ps4, xbox 720 and Wii 2. Let's all be honest though, xbox360 kicks a$$ but ps3 is incredible !! If SONY considers backwards gaming now, maybe it should be available through the playstation store until ps4 comes out.. Now that's smart thinking

yes! absolutely....the idea of all in one is always the top for high end gamers. Just hoping they don't sort cut on this "PlayStation 4 console" cause that will suck big time.
