Are consumers ready for the PS4?

Consumers are not ready for the Playstation 4, it is just still to early. While the technology is available to Sony to come up with a more powerful gaming system, less than 1/2 of the users of the Playstation 3 are capable of taking advantage of the HD capabilities… And almost none of the Playstation 3 games take full advantage of the Blu-Ray technology available.

With the majority of the Playstation 3 consoles not currently hooked up to an HDTV, what gain would there be for the average consumer in a console so far beyond their home theater equipment capabilities.

The Playstation 3 is already network ready, High Definition capable, a Blue-Ray player, and the most capable gaming console available to the public… Thanks to the firmware upgrades and online capabilities of the Playstation 3, Sony and other hardware companies can continue to release console improvements, while keeping to the same console.

The future of gaming is online, there is no question about it… The Playstation 3 is online, and more than capable to hold its own… For these reasons, it will be at least a couple of years before the Playstation 4 is even seriouly considered by Sony as something the consumers may be prepared for…

  1. There is no way people are ready for the Playstation 4 yet, like you said, too few are even set up to get the full use out of their PS3 consoles. With so few gamers on HD, and even fewer games filling up the Blu Ray disk space, it is going to be a little while before there is a NEED for the Playstation 4.

    But I want one.
